PLZ - Idiom Help

Is anyone able to help me here:

Susan butler, editor of Macquarie dictionary said the following about the changes to definition of misogyny.

"I always think of myself as the person with the mop and the broom and the bucket, you're sort of coming in and cleaning up the language after the party's over. And in this case it was a fairly big party, and what was left on the floor was 'misogyny' "

Can anyone identify any semantic patterning here?

- ie is there like an idiom/metaphor/simile:personification ??

What is it and what's it's effect?

Any help would be appreciated.
