hey

i'm a newbie here and just joined coz i'm looking for people to join my group for the derrick ha mathematics lecture http://www.derrickha.com.au/services/vce_revision_lecture.php. Essentially, he has a deal atm where u can get a discount if you have five people. I've currently got myself and two friends and need two more to make a group of 5 and to get the discount. its for either Maths methods or specialist mathematics (3/4) and in the group its 77 bux each. please PM me asap if u wanna join my group.

my friend from mhs went to the methods last yr n recommended it so it shuld b pretty good. it provide the take-in book for the second exam so it kinda feeds my laziness  :P haha

neways if u want to join my group, plz PM me asap or post bak in this forum.

n on a separate note, i wanna buy the english language book (http://www.derrickha.com.au/services/english_language_book.php). Being at a pretty poor school, not many of my friends do this subject so i was hoping i could find 3 ppl who also wana buy it (i've got 1 person so far). neways...pm me/post here too if u want to buy with me.

He's VERY good at teaching the fundamentals of maths, as well as aiding to build a better conceptual understanding. He also gives quite a lot of little exam tricks and tips that the major companies don't. It's also good that he annotates all his examples in his book with his thought processes so you're not simply mimicking his process, but understand why he does certain things. What he lacks is solidly teaching the higher level analysis questions, but this is always a hard thing to teach since it's really quite situational and there's too many possibilities to cover. I'd recommend his lectures to low and mid-range students. I don't think high-end students will get that much out of them.

Having went to the same school as him, I can tell you that he wasn't the type to chain himself to a desk.

I'm actually quite intrigued.  Judging from his "About Me" resume, as well as the fact that he's bothered putting so much work into tuition, I always had an inkling that he wasn't quite the introverted nerd stereotype.  Was he a sociable sort of mainstream guy?

Well I know he's one hell of a good speaker. Seems to be quite a rounded person too (debating, badminton etc).

I wasn't in his year, but he was also the Vice Captain two years ago, so we can presume that his peers liked him.

Sent in my registration forms for the Methods lecture! Pretty excited to see how it goes, hopefully the notes are good - they certainly sound so.
