45+....50 still possible?

hey guys, im in year 11 doing further and the first sac on core i aced, however on the second sac on geo and trig i lost 1 and a half marks, in about a week or so we have a sac on matrices which i am quite confident ill get near full/full marks.

I was away for many of the lessons on geo and trig and that is my weakest topic, since like year 7 ive never been good at it, i know the basics and all its just the 3d stuff that i dont like.

Since that mark ive been very down , my chances of 45+ have gone and my rank has slipped to like 10. We have quite a strong cohort

Was wondering if 50 was still possible? if i do very well in the sacs coming up and ace the exam?

thank

Remember that it is rank that matters, if you are rank 1 it doesn't matter if you got 60% in your sacs or 100%.  You can get definitely get 45+ if you're rank 1 in a weak cohort or high rank in a strong one...

yeap, aware of that. But since my rank has dropped to like 10, if i still do really well in exam - like ace, will my rank restrict me from 50? even if the people above me are most likely going to perform well as well?

Yeah, your SAC grade has to be scaled to a low A+ or high A for it to actually impact on whether you can get a 49/50 or not.

Eg. Two students both aced the exam, one has substantially better SAC ranking, the person with better SAC ranking will get the 50 and the person without will end up lower.

yeah but if you full mark the rest of the sacs your rank might go back up to first so dont give up yet just keep trying and 50 is still possible, and if you stay ranked 10th if you ace the exam you could still get 45+ so ya dont give up

Nah i wont get back upto first, i can guarantee you the people who have been acing everything will stay like that, they've already done like 30 practice exams so far..

What happens if i have a lower sac ranking but a higher exam mark then rank 1?

It sounds like a strong cohort then, so you're still in the run for a good score.

I believe you would take their SAC scores, but if you're only dropping 1-2 marks each SAC and they're beating you I doubt they will mess up the exam. IMO you only need to worry if there are people higher than you that will do bad in the exam.

is it rare to have 2 50s in the same cohort?

I suppose so.
I did further in yr 11, and in my cohort, there were 4 perfect scores.

Ranking is important-- do try and maintain high, consistent SAC results.
However, it is the exam(s) that matters.
Do well on that, and you'll be fine, no doubt.

In further, and probably in other other subjects, the exam constitutes 66/67% of your SS, so yeah if i aced that i think id be on the right track ?
