Biology one :)

Last year I attempted physics although I had no knowledge of the subject whatsoever, and ended up drawing stick figures. I'm surprised I even got a participation certificate -.- lol

Just saw this thread!
I'm doing the Chemistry one tomorrow (not looking forward to it actually) and the Earth and Environmental Science Olympiad as well (it's a new one and it was free so why not LOL). I'm actually looking forward to that one so hopefully it turns out well on the Friday!

Oh gosh you're going to have a fun time with all of three of them (did the Chemistry one last year and was kicking myself under the table for not studying for it T_T) though I've heard Physics is an absolute killer LOL

Just going to use this thread to talk about Olympiads in general but I did the Earth & Environmental Science Olympiad today (free Olympiad LOL) and my mind went blank for the whole entire Olympiad... like the questions they gave out weren't what I was expecting LOL

Some of them you had to know the chemical formulas of rocks (which aren't so common), use Physics to determine your weight on different planets, Oceans/Currents, Rainfall and Rocks in general... plus there was this really weird story they made with some weird names like 'Roxanne Stone and Wade Beachley'... too funny LOL :')

Definitely harder than the Chemistry Olympiad imo

I thought it was easier than the previous years one I did and I actually managed to finish with some time left. However, I was basically guessing the true / false questions and I'm not sure I wrote enough for the Section C, one question is 5 Marks and they give two lines to write on :/

This was the first time I had sat the Bio Olympiads so it was really intimidating and yeah you're right, generally with bio questions, you'd be able to figure out how much to write with the marks allocated so that made it a bit difficult. Maybe they wanted us to use more than one key term in our answers so you should be fine :) that's the thing with bio after all- more lines = one word answer and less lines = one whole essay :P

I have to admit though, the genes questions were pretty fun to do :D

I think I remember there was a question about Wolf Gametes worth one mark and it allocated about half a page to do it :p
