Does anyone know why ammonia is transported as a liquid rather than a gas? I have some ideas, but just wanted some comfirmation. Any replies would be much appreciated :)

Mostly just because liquid is way less dense than a gas.  This does cause issues of freeze burns if you get leaks, and high pressures.

It's lethal if breathed in. Merely touching it can cause severe burns. Also, it's a very corrosive substance, this is why it's better to handle it in liquid form and keep it in a leakage free container or something. It's also incredibly flammable if comes in contact with fire.  :)
