Anyone here do it? How'd you go?

A few students just walked out ten minutes in from our school after seeing the exam.

I think I got completely shat on.

I got the tea losing 1.5 degrees every 30 seconds, so that obviously couldn'tve been right :(

Ended up with 1.5/4 extended responses and most of the multi choice.

There were two guys in my class that got 3/4 and 4/4 respectively though :/

Hahahaha, so glad i came across this thread. I was in a group of 4 who competed this year (top 4 in cohort). We were royally f'ed, did the multiple choice with relative ease, as soon as we hit the extended response we all had no chance. We thought we were just dumb as dog (you know what), and even knowing that they were pretty damm difficult, i didnt expect them to be that extremely difficult. Anyway, good fun was had in that lesson!

Haha exams are never given out since you had to put all your details on it and hand it in after the exam >.<
They upload past exams here but maybe next year or the next two years (alternatively you could ask your school to buy copies of it I believe).

@hamo94 I haven't heard from anyone at school who made the Physics Summer School but I know a person who made the Earth and Environmental Summer School! Our school releases results in a few weeks time at assembly though but I'm expecting a couple of HD's from the Physics department at our school :3

Anyone here been to summer school for physics? What's it like? o_0 Sounds really intense, judging by the prize that is at stake - chance to represent Australia at the international physics olympiad overseas.

Yeah, that's insane, was he invited this year or a previous year? Apparently the website says they send out the results in October.

This year, they've sent out the calls out for all the Golds.

It's only Silver, Bronzes and HDs that get sent out in Oct :/

Hopefully I get something hahaha

Summer school is AWESOME. Enough said.

The chemistry summer school was two weeks in which you cover the whole of first year chemistry and some extra topics from second and third year university chemistry (following the UoM syllabus at least). You have a prac, 3 lectures, 2 tutes (I think) everyday.
It was an awesome two weeks. My only regret is not getting enough sleep everyday. I'd do something similar again, definitely. If you get in, I highly do NOT recommend refusing the offer to go. You meet great people, you stay away from home for a bit, the food isn't too bad and you just get to have lots of fun in general. It really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I reckon bio and physics would be equally as intense.

Plus, it really helps with VCE and puts the difficulty of VCE in perspective.
2012
Mathematical Methods (50) Chinese SL (45~52)

2013
English Language (50) Chemistry (50) Specialist Mathematics (49~54.9) Physics (49) UMEP Physics (96%) ATAR 99.95

2014-2016: University of Melbourne, Bachelor of Science, Diploma in Mathematical Sciences (Applied Maths)

2017-2018: Master of Science (Applied Mathematics)

2019-2024: PhD, MIT (Applied Mathematics)

Accepting students for VCE tutoring in Maths Methods, Specialist Maths and Physics! (and university maths/physics too) PM for more details
