Using Past VCE Texts

Sorry guys, this might sound like a pretty stupid question but are we allowed to refer to past VCE texts in AOS2 in the exam for textual evidence? I'm planning to use ideas from Growing up Asian which is a last year's text in my expository essay.

I think it's allowed as long as they don't take up more than the current text discussion. I'm also using some examples from growing up Asian in Australia as well.
