Studio Arts Exam

I was unfortunate enough to have a really bad teacher this year for Studio. My whole class is screwed for the exam as our teacher has taught us barely anything, so I find that I am having to teach myself all the content from the internet and practice exam Assessment Reports from vcaa

Has anybody done studio previously, and if so, what to expect on the exam? Or does anyone have any links or further information on Legal obligations associated with copyright and appropriation/ specific conservation examples (e.g. that mould grows at 67% RH) etc.

I am in need of desperate help!
Thanks!  :)

My class is screwed for the exam as well and I've had to teach myself everything too. Looking at past exams, we can pretty much guarantee that there will be a question on conservation and preservation, legal and ethical considerations and aesthetic qualities as they appear every year.

In past exams, people do really badly on questions about aesthetic qualities and style, so I think that will likely appear on the exam. There wasn't anything about communication of ideas and meanings, artistic influences, or the role of galleries last year, so prepare for those questions to appear on the exam as well.

Good luck!

Thankyou! It's good to know I'm not the only one with a shit teacher

I've prepared a lot for the role of galleries, and for ideas and meanings - but will look more into aesthetic qualities

Good luck to you, too!

I did the exam last year, and luckily had a good teacher (bad cohort though).

Make sure you know all the dates and information for the two artists you're studying, as well as roles of galeries, conversvation and preservation.

I'd simply recommend doing all the old exams on the VCAA website, as they're good practice and they tend to repeat very similar questions. This will help you get really prepared!!!

And time yourself well. A few people in my class didn't finish the exam - and I had 10 minutes to go once I finished writing!

I've been doing the VCAA exams and one problem that I've encountered is that there aren't enough lines to write  :-\ Did you have this problem? For example they don't give much space to write the extended responses worth 10-15 marks.
