How would you guys recommend to prep for unit 3 further? Read thru the chapters and do work or don't do work yet. Just have an idea of what's going on in the chapters?

It just depends on your goals and how hard you're willing to work for them. You could do absolutely nothing during the holidays for Further and still pull out an amazing score, Further is considered the easiest of the 3 VCE maths. Alternatively, you could go ahead and work through a few of your modules or finish the entire course.

I wouldn't read through the chapters without doing any work - if you do plan on reading the chapters make sure to do some exercises or else you will just forget it, make sure to practice the application! One thing you should also do is have a read through the Study Design as that will tell you everything that can be assessed as part of the subject.

Furthers a funny one because there isnt too much to learn, and it isnt too difficult, but to get the top marks you need to do a fair bit of practice questions so that you remember the tricks in different questions
id say that if you wanna be productive on the holidays, youd be better off doing ANY other subject other than further. as you will be able to pick up further in class without too many worries (if you need help come to atarnotes!)

if you are dead set on doing further then i would spend an hour or two getting a feel for all the modules you are doing, and if you are gonna do some proper work, get cracking on the first module you are going to do at school. if you finish that chapter of your textbook or whatever, i wouldnt go ahead to the other topics (except maybe core if you want). but i would just start smashing out practice questions and practice sacs for that first topic until that first sac comes up. alot of the marks that people lose in their further sacs are in the very first sac when they arent ready for those tricky questions that separate the 100% from the 98% and 96%.

id say thats the best course of action, but if i could go back to my summer holidays before year 12 i wouldntve wasted my time doing any further

good luck for the year

A lot of people say to finish the entire core section or even the course which is doable but definitely not necessary, last year I was overseas for majority of the summer holidays and only did the first chapter. The course is quite small so no need to go that far ahead, one thing I do recommend is teaching yourself the last module so that you have a good 2-3 months for practice exams, this is what really gets you that high study score.

hey mate, personally i did nothing over summer for further.
if i were you i'd take it as it goes preparing for sacs, then in the easter holidays finish the remainder. i finished uit over june/july but id recommend easter instead
start with 2 exams a week, not under timed conditions. paper 1s take around 30 minutes and paper 2 take around 45
when term 3 starts start doing 4 or 5 a week
make sure you correct all of them, and dont throw papers out

during september holidays do exams under full timed conditions ie sit the full 90 minutes even if your just checking for n hour
you want to do around 10 papers this way

i did only 3 papers in the week leading up the exams

this is just the way i would do it, different things work for different people.
2014 - Further, Accounting
2015 - English, Spec, Physics, Methods
