JackSonSmith:
What is classical studies? Sorry but never heard of it before.
heids:
[Not having done it], I think it's about classical/ancient Greece and Rome. You study how certain classical writers and artists explore ideas in their texts, their techniques and what it reveals about the sociocultural context of the era. But they're so lazy nowadays, back in the day you had to read them in the original Greek and Latin :)
Success! There are now *TWO* people doing classics on this forum! (Don't ask me why I suddenly became interested in this board... maybe because it well and truly tops my 'most popular boards by activity' :) )

basically this haha. there's a profound interest in what, through the medium of language, the ancient greek/roman worlds communicates to us about the human condition and how periods of sociopolitical upheaval contribute to these insights. it's really super duper cool and awesome.
maybe youre like a beacon for classicers bangalok...relying on you to draw in more of us :)

What a mouthful. Haha.
Reading Medea for English. It has been more interesting than I had first anticipated, it even influenced me to have a look at the classics study design, I'm seriously considering it; hence why I am lurking in this thread.
