Where did you buy your labcoat??

Hello, :)
I'm a chemistry student next year and I have to buy a labcoat.
The problem is, I'm quite small (imagine a typical small Asian girl) :P
My school's labcoat is waaaay to big. Like it was designed too big for me.
So here is my problem: Where the hell can I buy a labcoat that will fit me?

My teacher was saying how the Universities (imagine RMIT, Melbourne Uni) sell labcoats for cheaper. And I noticed that they all sell online. I'm kinda worried whether it'll fit well or not. So i'm a bit hesitant to buy online without trying it on. Does anyone know if their universities sell labcoats face to face?

Also, if anyone knows a good store they bought their labcoats from, it would be really great
Thank you!!!

I don't know about Melbourne or RMIT, but at Monash I got mine for cheap on o-week at the chemistry labs. Whilst there, we actually tried on the lab coats to make sure we actually got one that fit. If you didn't get your lab coat in o-week (or first week in, not sure which...), you also could've gone to the book store and bought one then and there, also having the chance to try it on before you bought it.

If your university doesn't have the same opportunities, it may be worth pretending to be a Monash student to get one that you know will fit. :P

Gosh, I feel old...

But yeah, if you can get the time off school to come around, nothing stopping you~ I'm not sure the Monash bookshop is open on weekends, though, if you wanted to try then. But AGAIN, the book store is bloody expensive, might even be worth finding a random store instead, or just trying them on for a size then ordering that size online.

The wonderful thing about lab coats is that they're pretty generic and size doesn't matter too much. Sleeves too long? Roll 'em up. Sleeves too short? You'll be wearing gloves anyway.

If you're of a smaller figure just order a generic "small" lab coat. It's almost certainly not going to fit perfectly, but it's not really designed to anyway :P

O-week is too late for me to buy labcoats, I think... We have some experiment first week back (like on 2nd of Feb or something) If I don't get the lab coat by then, the teacher is going to make a hissing fit  :P

You can buy labcoats "face to face" from the Melbourne Uni book store (the Co-Op, next to the Baillieu library). Maybe ring them first though to make sure they have any in stock at this time of year. See here for store contact details - scroll down to VIC, and select "Melbourne University Baillieu".

Hope that helps =)

You could just head to Monash Clayton Campus and see if they have it in stock in the clothing section (which I believe they should). Check here for Contact Details.

If worse comes to worse, you could make an excuse and ask to borrow a labcoat from the school for your first experiment (arrange this with one of the lab techs beforehand) and another option (which I would avoid due to logo unless you patch it up beforehand LOL) is to go to PSW and try on the JMSS labcoats where the smallest size is 2X and fitted my friend who is roughly 155-160cm (if that's your definition of small Asian girl :P ).
Happy hunting!
