Biomed majors

I'm still undecided on which major I should choose to do in my third year. I'm considering either Pharmacology or Neuroscience. I initially thought I liked Pharmacology, since I did the second year subject, PHRM20001. However, I realised that what my main area of interest in that subject, is autonomic pharmacology. I did a bit of research and found that pharmacology major was drug discovery based, which I'm not interested in. As for neuroscience, I particularly enjoyed neurophysiology, especially with the action potential and all those increase, decrease questions (this is perhaps contrary to other people's experiences). I have an avid interest in neuroscience and the anatomy of the brain. I have consulted members on AN about their experiences in the two respective majors.  I'm not too keen on a research pathway (honours/PhD), but want to pursue something in the health science (med, dent, opto). Which major would be give me alot of options and would suit me best? I just want an opinion, thanks :)

Definitely take a look at both of the different major's lecture recordings, subject reviews, assessment formats and subject content (via the handbook). I found that taking into account of these factors helped me to pursue a neuroscience pathway. Additionally, when I was tossing up between physiology and neuroscience as a major that neuroscience would be the most relevant for optometry. From your OP, it probably sounds like you are interested in more of the areas relevant to neuroscience than pharmacology. As for what gives the most options after your undergrad, there's probably not much of a difference between what the two majors offer.
2012-2014. BSc: Neuroscience. University of Melbourne.
2015-2018. Doctor of Optometry. University of Melbourne.

Unlikely to respond to any PMs these days.
