Not sure about BMS1021, but for BMS1031 it's "Physics for Biosciences" (a custom textbook from the Monash bookstore), a copious amount of beer and some post-traumatic counselling.

edit: you also don't actually need the textbook

Watch Khan Academy videos, they will be your best friend with BMS1031. Start in Feb if you're keen, it'll make fluids seem less intimidating :P
(But the question is, will you be able to study on a cold rainy night in Stoke?)

Ill do anything if it helps, I've had a fear of physics my whole life

hahaha don't worry man, I hadn't touched physics at all before that unit and I coped. As NAME REDACTED EspoirTron says, Khan Academy is your friend for concepts (as it is a heavily conceptual unit), plus the maths in the unit barely stretches beyond arithmetic and application of formulae. You need sound logic far more than the textbook for biophys!

I concur with Alon! A unit that relies heavily on your conceptual understanding of the Physics rather than your ability to number-plug. Throw any pre-conceived notion you have about VCE Physics and its reputation about number plugging. If you hate maths but can critically think, then this subject will be doable for you!

In first year, the only textbook you need is Neuroscience: Exploring the Brain by Bear et al for BMS1052.

Second year and onwards is where textbooks actually become useful because the unit content is a lot more specific and in-depth; even then, most people manage without (and got to the library if they desperately need to look over something).

Honestly don't buy textbooks unless 1) you're sure you'll really need it and 2) you can get a really good price. Use booko.com.au to compare the prices of textbooks across various websites, should save you some money.

Does anyone have the pdf of Physics for Biosciences?

If not, is there anyway I can start preparing for the course early?

It's a custom Monash textbook so I doubt there's a pdf of it anywhere, and there isn't really any point to doing serious prep before starting the unit (or any biomed unit for that matter, as they're generally pretty self-contained).

If you're super keen to do something then I'd recommend basic Khan Academy videos on forces, fluid flow/buoyancy, electricity, magnetism and cardiovascular physiology. If you can get last year's unit guide off someone that should give you some areas to casually look over before semester.
