Do I have to do chem1011 and chem1022?

So I'm doing a double degree Sci/Comm this year and I want to meet the prereqs for Melbourne UNi M.D. I looked at the table on the M.D website and it seems like I don't need to do first year chem in order to do the subjects I need for M.D. Can anyone confirm this?
Also can you do a double major in science even in a double degree?

Firstly, do you know what the prerequisites are for the MD? I can only find them in terms of UoM units.

No, you can't take two majors in science if you're doing a double degree. So much is clear from reading the handbook. You have 96 science points, each major is 48 points, but you need to do quite a few units outside just two majors.

For the MD you need to have done IMM2011 if I am not mistaken. This unit requires both BIO1011/BIO1022 and CHM1011/CHM1022. So yes, you're going to have to do first year Chem if you want to be eligible for the UoM MD.

I found this document http://sc.mdhs.unimelb.edu.au/sites/studentcentre/files/Australia-Prerequisite%20Subjects-updated-14-January-2015.pdf
which says that you can do any one of the approved subjects (some subjects are on the list but not approved i dont know why they'd do that) that are listed there and IMM2011 isn't on the list? From the ones that I see only some of them require chem first year as a prereq not all of them. Can anyone confirm this

Since you don't need first-year chem for BCH2011, which is the prerequisite for anything else really within biochem; and anatomy/physiology are purely bio in terms of prereqs, it seems that you are right. You could call-up UoM to clarify that spreadsheet though, if you like.

Theyve actually made the requirements easier. You previously had no choice (more or less). Now IMM and other subjects are allowed too (where they previously were not).

Chem is not needed for physiology or developmental biology. Basic year 12 chemistry knowledge will help. Biochemistry is a bit more tricky, technically, you dont need the advanced content in CHM1011/22 for biochem but i think chunks of it would help to a pretty good degree. It is not absolutely essential though i guess.
