Chinese 1 or Japanese 5?

I have a little bit of a dilemma atm and I'd like to hear some opinions. I'm really keen on learning these two languages but because of my course I need to pick between one or the other. I heard that from proficient level onwards it starts to become difficult, so I fear that I will struggle a lot in Japanese  and it will affect my GPA thus my chances of getting into post-grad medicine. On the other side of the coin, I've never learnt Chinese before so I don't know if it will be something I'll really enjoy.

So should I enrol in Japanese 5 first and if I find it too difficult move into Chinese 1, or should I do it the other way around?

All input is appreciated  :)
