Breadth question

For Bachelor of Science, I'm just wondering if you have to spread your 6 breadth/elective subjects across all three years of your degree equally (as shown in every sample course plan I've seen) or if it's possible to for example, complete 3 breadth/electives in one year and do only 1 in the next year.

My current plan for first year is as follows, but I'm not 100% sure if it meets course requirements.

Semester 1
Chemistry 1
Biology of Cells & Organisms
Principles of Marketing
Consumer Behaviour

Semester 2
Chemistry 2
Genetics & the Evolution of Life
Data Analysis 1
Neuromarketing

Red highlighted are breadth. I intend to to do the 'Genetics, Health and Society' breadth in second year if that's fine. Also, I know principles of marketing is a corequisite for consumer behaviour, but I read something about needing to be already previously enrolled in the prereq/corequisite, so I'm also wondering if it's ok to enrol in both at the same time.

You only have to do four breadth subjects, not six. Two subjects can be pretty much anything.

You don't have to spread breadth equally. I did no breadth in three semesters, and two breadth in one semester. The course plans are guides - and not particularly representative ones at that. I'd be guessing that most students don't end up following the course plan by their third year.

You're supposed to not do second year level subjects in your first semester. You should be able to enrol in Consumer Behaviour, however. Marketing subjects aren't really known for being particularly difficult, but keep this in mind.

I'm guessing you're talking about the progression rule. Just how strict is melb uni with this? I see contradictory advice with some saying the uni doesn't really care, while others say it does matter.

I've enrolled in a third year subject in second year with no problems. It may depend on the subject/coordinator though, but I've never actually heard of someone not being allowed to do a subject.

Enrol in it and you'll probably be fine.
