expanding numbers with high powers

i was just wondering does anyone have any tricks for finding solutions for numbers with high powers, i.e. , like generally i would just solve something like this by splitting it up into something like and find the answer, but that takes way too long, so anyone got any cool tricks that don't involve a calc?
