Hey Guys!
Was just wondering if anyone has completed this breadth subject and if so, I would like to know how you found it. I have already selected a breadth for the 1st semester but I am having difficulty choosing one for the 2nd semester. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am in 1st year (Science) and if anyone feels like recommending a breadth subject that would be great.

Hey Mate! I did this subject last semester.
The subject itself is very up and down. There are moments that were super interesting in lectures and inversely reaaaaaallly dry in content. The lecturers are pulled from a range of sources, some are exceptional, and others... not so much.
In terms of the assessment you have got 2 x 2000 word essays OR 1 essay and an electronic application of 2000 words equivalent (80%), and basically tutorial attendance/blog contribution (20%), meaning you've got no exam (yay).
I found the essays to be agonizingly boring to write/research (this might be my hatred for essay writing seeping through).
I stopped going to the lectures in the last 2 weeks purely because the only assessment i had left was the final essay and the last two lectures were entirely irrelevant to what i was going to write my essay on.
I would like to point out and give props to the Tutorial coordinator James Meese who is a really cool guy and really enlightens the discussions in tutes. He's super understanding of uni schedules and happy to answer any questions.

Would i do this subject again? Probably not. However if you have an interest in the internet's intervention in societal progression and the tools the internet has brought, and can also pump out coherent and in depth essays in short periods of time this subject is a great idea.

In terms of difficulty the subject was really only demanding when the essays were due. For me it took about 3-4 days of sitting behind my screen purely researching and slamming my keyboard per essay, and ended up with a flat 79 (H2A) (Would have realllly like that extra mark James if you ever read this  ;)) for this subject. The essays were marked quite fairly, my first essay i felt i worked really hard for and got 75 so i really just lifted the game for second essay and got a H1. For the rest of the semester i really did very very little work for this subject and it was really nice to have one less exam to study for come swotvac.

It's a really hit-miss subject among the cohort but the class size is relatively small so you get to know quite a few people well and become exposed to really small and "intimate" lecture theaters which none of my first year subjects seemed to have.

I rate the subject a solid 7/10, if you have any other questions feel free to ask! :)
Sprry for the late reply! Thanks for commenting man, very informative, I'm still considering what breadth to do but your comment sure was appreciated, cheers!
