I would definitely recommend having access to a copy when doing your assignments, it will be a valuable reference to have (you need other references too, of course!). I don't remember using it when revising for the exam, I just learnt the lectures.

If you wanted to, I think you could get away with not purchasing it for now and using a copy from the library when researching for assignments. This means you will have to be very organized as most likely it'll be borrowed close to the due date. This way you can wait a few more weeks to see if you think you will need it. Maybe try picking it up second hand for $40-50.
