This Boys Life - Analysis

Hi guys, I was just trying to analyse different sections of the 'This Boys Life' and was quite unsure what the author implies through the quote: "Knowing that everything comes to an end is a gift of experience, a consolation gift for knowing that we ourselves are coming to an end."

If anyone who has read the text is willing to share their insight/explanations, that would be appreciated!

Thanks :)

I haven't finished the book yet, but I have watched it.

I would say without actually knowing the context of the sentence is that the author (Wolff) is trying to imply wisdom is only gained through experience and the idea of the knowing that something is going to end is a "consolation gift" we receive through the wisdom we have gained over time. The only way we can for see the end, is through the depth of our own wisdom and what we have learnt, our own past experiences.

I hope that makes sense, instead of confusing you :)
