I was just wondering if anyone has any solutions for 2008 and/or 2009 Chemistry for Biomed exams? Thanks

Can someone please explain how to do this question?

Transferrin has 2 tyrosines, 1 histidine and 1 aspartate so you can eliminate options D and E. Tyrosine and aspartate are uninegative ligands, while histidine is a neutral ligand. So the amino acids give an overall change of -3, which cancels out the +3 on the Fe. However carbonate has a -2 charge, which means the molecule will have an overall charge of -2.
