Can we do 5 subjects in total? Or does it need to be 6??

To qualify for your VCE, you only need to do 4 subjects (including one of English, English Language or Literature [or EAL]) - but some schools have policies that require students to do 5 subjects (or even 6).

It's best to check with your school, but VCAA's policy is that you must do 4, and up to 6 can contribute towards your ATAR. :)

You need six, however, to maximise your ATAR, if that matters to what you're hoping to do in the future :)
