Transferring from Biomed

I'm currently in Melbourne Uni Biomed 1st year and considering transferring to Commerce at Melbourne/Monash. Is it possible that I can transfer mid year based on ATAR alone as mine was well above both cut-offs? Or will I have to get a 75+ average-which is going to be a struggle.

Thanks @ BasicAcid Quick question, would it be possible to not disclose my first semesters results to Monash and obtain entry based on atar only? Do they have a way of checking results if it's not through vtac?

I believe they do perform cross-checks with other institutions, if you omit details they will most likely remove you from the course, so bad idea.

Hmmm...some unis usually will only take your ATAR score alone if you haven't completed more than 1 semester as for many unis the deadline to apply for midyear entry is before you get your results so technically it is impossible to get your results before you submit your application to transfer.

However melb uni release their results on 10 July and monash open their midyear enrolments from 13 july so it may not be possible.

shaiga95, curious to know though, why do you want to transfer from biomed to commerce? what major are you thinking of doing?

Mid year transfers are usually quite competitive, so try to do your best over the upcoming weeks.

End of year transfers are a bit less competitive as there's more available course spots.
(But they won't take your ATAR into account if you decide to keep going to uni in semester 2, just your uni marks).

BasicAcid, are you sure the above is right? I believe I have been told the opposite when I applied to transfer to my current uni (i.e. less competitive midyear and more competitive end-of-year)... :-\

@clara_tanone I was weighing up between commerce and biomed post school as both really interested me. I eventually chose biomed with the view to transfer to commerce if my marks weren't competitive, as a biomed degree without a postgrad is pretty useless, And I know I can do well in Commerce.

what makes you think you can do well in commerce?
