VCAA approved biology definitions

I was wondering if there was already a list of vcaa approved definitions that people had collated for biology or if there isn't maybe we could create one?
By vcaa approved, I mean definitions that have been taken from past exam papers.  :) :)

The document attached below contains definitions and processes collected from VCAA's short-answer, 2006-2014 - I'd encourage you to add to it throughout the year as you go through the reports more thoroughly!

Also remember that in Bio, you don't have to learn these definitions word-for-word; for instance, you must know what genetic drift is, but you should be able to make up a definition on the spot. :)

Corrections and updates:
- Gene therapy (under 'definitions' of U4 AOS 2) - should say 'functioning allele into the CELL' not 'body'.
- Addition - natural selection:
1.   There is variation in a population (some genetic).
2.   Some individuals are better suited to a particular environment.
3.   Those better suited to the environment are more successful at survival and reproduction.
4.   Over time there is an increase in particular characteristics in the population.

YAHOO!  WOOHOO!  WHAT YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR, HANGING ON TENTERHOOKS FOR, (and most importantly upvoting for) IS FINALLY HERE!

(can you tell that I'm particularly tired this morning lol?)

I'm kinda scared to post it now because it's not even that great or exciting ::) ... a short 6-page document with some definitions and processes.  Being done very skimmingly as it's a surprisingly large task, it definitely doesn't cover everything in the reports, and it's only from short answer (2006+) as multi choice would have been too hard to decide what to put in.  So I'd encourage you to add to it throughout the year as you go through the reports more thoroughly!  Also remember that in Bio, you don't have to learn these definitions word-for-word; for instance, you must know what genetic drift is, but you should be able to make up a definition on the spot.  They're very likely to ask for new, previously untested definitions in the 2015 exam! ...such cheery supportive optimism

EDIT: LOL.  I didn't even attach the file.

And a reminder that you have to be logged in to see attachments :)

I love you.

You're welcome, all :)

Just want to add the process of natural selection, which I mistakenly deleted when eliminating multiple allopatric speciation answers:
1.   There is variation in a population (some genetic).
2.   Some individuals are better suited to a particular environment.
3.   Those better suited to the environment are more successful at survival and reproduction.
4.   Over time there is an increase in particular characteristics in the population.

That's what my document says...

Quote
2.   tRNA: to carry specific amino acids to the ribosome for protein synthesis
Quote
•   tRNA: carries specific amino acid to ribosome

But thanks for feedback :)

Well, I would (defs not sticky, of course), but I'm only an English studies mod so cain't do a thing in this board :P

I seriously didn't expect this to be that helpful - glad youse all seem to be findin' it useful.  Let me know if there's ever anything in particular else that'd be especially helpful :)

trust, it is definitely helpful, my bio teacher hasn't even informed us that we need to have spot on definitions for the exam lol

I just noticed the definition for gene therapy is wrong.

The correct definition for gene therapy is 'aims to insert a normal/functioning allele into a CELL' (not body)
The assessment report says that a common incorrect answer was 'body' and the students received no marks.

Also, thanks for compiling this amazing document!!  :D :D
