The maths itself is not particularly difficult, it's just super super easy to make careless mistakes. And the competition is very fierce. Dropping a few marks here and there in the exams can mean the difference between below 40 and 40+.  :'(

What epichedgehog said. The maths is relatively simple if you're familiar with the basics (so pretty much some minor algebra (although you don't actually need to be able to do it, just know how to put it into your CAS ;) ) and relationships stuff). It's meant to be taught with 'no assumed knowledge' so pretty much anyone can go in and pass. Just to add on here, further is primarily practical mathematics so even if you're not a strong maths student, I'd still definitely recommend it. You might not get a great score if you're there to learn (which seems a little backwards) but you'll be better off anyway.  :)

If you're doing methods, you'll destroy further compared to a good portion of your cohort but you might be a little disoriented with the data and statistics - it's not hard, there's just a lot of easy mistakes to make - but in general you could probably get a good 35 without any homework or study (of course, I don't recommend that ::) ).

Not much more to be said, but I do need to stress this:

FURTHER IS DIFFERENT TO METHODS. Yes, lots of carry-over - yes, you could probably do it and do moderately well. However, do *NOT* walk into the exam blind. Further asks different styles of questions, and those you need to be prepared for - this means that you should still work hard at it. Don't toss it off as being easy and do no work for it. Instead, you need to accept it has a lower difficulty to methods, and hence make the decision to take further because you struggle with methods/believe that it will be a nice cool down when methods gets too much.

Basically, just make sure that if you choose Further, you still do work for it.

Further is pretty straightforward.

There's some new, different stuff to methods but if you're a comfortable methods student you'll be fine in further.

As others have said, there is NEW CONTENT that you won't have learnt in methods, so don't think you can just walk into SACs/Exam blind. Also, it's super easy to make mistakes so bring a highlighter and go through questions atleast twice.

If you're careful and meticulous you'll be guaranteed a 40.

NO! Dropping a few marks here and there cIan drop your score down dramatically. I'm doing practice exams at the moment and I've been making REALLY dumb mistakes. I have a feeling that they'll be my downfall...

No its not, theres a HUGE amount of kids that understand all the content.... the problem is losing marks because of stupid mistakes. I understand all the content, yet i get 1 or 2 wrong every time because i zone after a while of number punching on the cas.
