ExamPro reviews?

Hi, I was looking around the ATAR Notes website and noticed the ExamPro books. Has anyone purchased these books and could give their opinion on them? I am considering purchasing them for Methods and Biology next year, as I am studying them as a 3/4 subject. Are they worth the purchase, or could you do without them?

Thanks! :)

Yeah they are definitely worth it for biology (that's the only one i've got).

The thing that distinguishes exampro from all other study guides/commercial papers is the AMAZING solutions manual for each subject, which provides in depth and thorough explanations of solutions with relevant theory in accordance to VCAA standards.

Thanks so much for the feedback! ^_^

I'm obviously biased, but the big advantage I see with ExamPro is that the authors have just been in your shoes! They know the stresses of VCE, they know the frustration of silly mistakes, they know the feeling of working your ass off for a 4 digit number. They're not a bunch of old guys/gals who sit in a room over a cup of tea and hardcopies of The Age who discuss the health risks associated with leaning on the back two legs of your chair. They've just been there and done that, I think being able to relate to the the authors more is a huge plus, wish I had the opportunity to have access to resources like this.

Oh and, as aforementioned, the solutions are pretty intense. Especially for Maths and Chem, they're pretty much supplemental textbooks.

^Everything that pi has said. From past experience, just don't be too disheartened with the scores you may get in the Bio one - some of the questions are pretty tricky, but that's a good thing.

Also: you could probably do without them, but it'd be pretty silly ! :)

Just another question, when would be a good time to complete the ExamPro books? Throughout the year, or before exams?

Well they are split up into SACs and Exams (definitely for the spesh and physics ones at least) so i would set out to complete it throughout the year as needed. So far this year with Specialist I have been saving the trial SACs for a couple nights or just the night before my actual SAC since it contains much harder questions than anything that appears on my actual SACs. For some topics though i have never had enough time to complete it so I'm just saving them as extra 'exam revison' along with the actual trial exams in the book.

There is no right or wrong way to use them. Just experiment and you will see what works out for you.
