What should I do now?

Hey guys, just wanted some advice/your perspective on my current situation.

I'm doing reasonably well for Methods right now, top 3 in the cohort for SACs and been getting 90%+ on Exampro tests and an average of 117-118/120 for most practice exams (around 115 for kilbaha) in my last 5 sets.

I've completed around 35 sets of practice exams (so 70 in total) so far and i was originally planning to do an exam or maybe two exams a day until the finals (except there aren't enough out there if i did two).

Since my aim is a Premiers (i don't want to lose a mark), I'm quite curious as to, for the other students who got 50s or Premiers, their studying routines at this point in time. I've only gotten one 120/120 and often I drop one or two marks from something that slips, where the question was just a bit tricky. Really quite concerned as i heard 3 marks dropped over both exams last year was a 48 and my family doesn't quite tolerate that score for methods :/

Sister's being completely useless because she doesn't want me beating her. Any help/advice/perspective is greatly valued!

Thanks all :) (75 days til methods!!)

P.S Not trying to brag, it's just the expectations that my parents have of me.

As someone who got a 50 last year (no premiers) I would say really just nail down where it is you are losing those couple of marks. Be really specific so rather than saying it was a "careless error" decide whether it was because you didn't read the question, or you confused two concepts or exactly whatever else you might be doing.
As a bit of a guide, I hadn't even finished the course by this point last year and only did around 20 sets of practice exams without ever full marking one. You could say I got lucky, which I did, but in the end it really comes down to how well you perform on the actual exam, and that comes from how well you can minimise your mistakes.
Honestly if you keep working like this and work smart as well as hard, there's no limit to what you can achieve.

RE: 3 marks lost on both exams netting you a 48 I can confirm that one for you (my friend scored 40/40 on Exam 1 and 77/80 on Exam 2 losing marks due to calculator malfunctioning [which is a pity]).

Not Premiers/50 but personally, if you're still finding questions "tricky" then I think you might need to keep exposing yourself to more questions to cover all gaps possible (Chapter Reviews in Essentials are good where the very last chapter of ER is insanely hard LOL). However do take time marking your exam and those small mistakes you made in those exams you should chuck into a bound reference and keep note of what topics you're getting wrong (as generic as that may sound) :P

Good luck and remember to not burn out!

Doesn't look like you're doing a lot wrong - just try not to get burned out (don't want to peak too early). I guess the rest of it just comes down to the 1 percenters - tightening up all the screws. Keep being harsh when marking your own papers, and ironing out the little kinks. And perhaps even playing around with exam technique - one of my friends liked to complete exams as fast as possible and check as many times as possible, but I preferred to take it slowly in reverse order the first time and check as i went. There is no set way and it's something you might like to experiment or tinker with. Other than that, looks like you're set but you never know until the result comes out!

What even is VCE SS calculation... did slightly better and that only netted me a 47 :P Well make sure your SACs are at the top depending on your cohort strength! :D
2013: Chinese Second Language (49)
2014: Mathematical Methods (47) Music Performance (46)
2015: English (47) English Language (let's not go there) Specialist Mathematics (43) Chemistry (43) ATAR: 99.95

Haha well there were people who did better than them in the exam (and got a higher SS) so possibly their SACs scaled better than yours in the end hence the difference in SS which is a shame >.<

I started out with over 100/120 and now I've basically broken the 115/120 barrier after around 30 exams, still doing more because I really don't want to repeat (have to if I don't get 48+)

thanks good luck to you too!

Thanks man! Wow...I'm looking at like 40ish+ and I'm still getting like 90/120 (not even). You'll be fine haha! I've still only done like 5 sets, so yeah, a bit to go. I probably started a bit too late  :'(...

If you get a 48 (or 45+) do you really have to repeat? The scaling will push you up to like 49.5 or something ridiculously high. I don't think redoing methods is worth getting a potential 0.5 extra aggregate. Just get one more study score in English.

I wouldn't say a 45 is a bad score at all and even if you do there really isn't any logical argument for you to be upset considering your scaled score would be relatively similar to a scaled score of a raw 49 or 48. Also, it seems that Year 11's either overestimate or underestimate how difficult it is to achieve the top end study scores . People start of with the expectation of a 50 then as the year passes that turns into a 45 then a 40 then a 30 haha. But you seem to be under control so I wouldn't worry too much.

my family friends compare the number of 50s their sons/daughters get, not their scaled score :(

I know that it doesn't mean much in the whole atar context but 45-48 doesn't sound as good as a 50 :/

to put it into context my parents scolded my sister for 3 days after she got 45+

zealous: parents would quite happy with two 50s from me except maths is my best subject and I probably won't get them for chem/physics

but thanks guys for the support and advice!!

No offence, but this is slightly ridiculous.
