I get them mixed up
Structures:
 - functional
 - divisional
- matrix
 - network

Layouts:
 - Product layout
 - Process layout
 - Fixed Position

...maybe try an acronym haha? Something for FDMN and something for PPF

And also quite unsure about how hr planning links to business strategy
Hmmmm, ok so HR Planning - forecasting future human resources needs
Strategy - plans of action to achieve objectives.

HR Planning is required to ensure that there are enough adequate employee numbers to achieve strategies. For example, if a strategy was to have charity donation jugs in shopping centres, HR Planning would recognize that there is a demand for volunteers or employees to be holding these jars. Or another example, if a strategy was to expand, you need more employees to work in the new locations.

I think you could also go a bit more in depth - HR Planning is also looking at environmental conditions and how that may effect Human Resources needs. For example, if there is an increasing rate of medical students who do not have the best english (i.e from different backgrounds), HR Planning looks at this and might conclude that they will have to perform english verbal reasoning tests in the selection process. Or, if HR Planning forecasts that most job applicants are very young, they will need to find a balance with more older and experienced workers and develop strategies to keep experienced employees motivated and working at an organisation.

Hope that made some degree of sense  :-\

HR planning > Business strategy i kinda get it now

So its like If staff turnover levels r high, HR would need to plan strategies to overcome this problem. For e.g. provide further training, incentive programs etc...

That works, but I might add that what you have is all within the HR function. Try broaden it to overall business strategy e.g 'Expannsion': HR Planning needs to determine how many more employees required to work in the new areas
