Initialisms?

Can we use initialisms in the exam? Such as LTM for long term memory and LTP for long term potentiation? Also while we are at it what is LTP?

Long-term potentiation refers to the strengthening of synaptic connections between the presynaptic and postsynaptic neuron. Both of these neurons are able to communicate more easily so in effect the postsynaptic neuron becomes more responsive to the presynaptic neuron through repeated stimulation which strengthens the memory circuit making the memory easier to retrieve.

As for your other question, I'm not sure but I think examiners would prefer the full name. If you know you're going to use the term quite often in your answer, you could start off by saying 'Long-term memory (LTM)' and then use 'LTM' for the rest of the answer just to be on the safer side
