Accepting/declining offers

I'm applying through the UAC and VTAC.
Say I got an ENTER of 90.

VTAC:                UAC:
1. A (91)                1. X (88)
2. B (90)                2. Y (85)
*(brackets represent the ENTER score needed)

1. I really want A (over X) but because I didn't get 90, do I wait for second round offers or do I immediately choose to accept B or X?
2. After round 1 offers are made, say I wanted Y instead of X (and I have an ENTER that is sufficient for both courses), do I have to decline X first then accept Y immediately? I do I have to wait for a bit until the offers expires so I automatically get Y?

Sorry if it's a bit hard to understand what I'm trying to ask. I'm just so confused as well =\

1. Accept X and B. Accept X because you can cancel anytime before university starts pretty much. I had a University of Adelaide placement until late January I think which I just held on to. In accepting B, there's an option to still keep yourself open to A in second round offers.
2. I assume you meant "...say I wanted Y instead of X", so if you put X as your first preference, you'll never get Y. Declining X assumes that you're declining Y as well. The only way around this would be to lodge an irregular offer for Y through UAC.

Rule is to accept everything till you're satisfied with one (includes later round offers) and can make a clear decision on which you'll be happy in. You're not penalised for accepting, but you are for declining.
