Based on the elctrochemical aluminium metal should be readily oxidised by waqter, yet aluminium can be used for the construction of boats. Which one of the following best explains this difference between the predicted and observed behaviours?

a The electrochemical series does not take into account the effects of other metals alloyed with the aluminium that is used in boat construction.
B The electrochemical series does not take into account the equilibrium constant for the reaction, which is very small for this reaction: therefore it does not favour the oxidation reaction.
c the electrochemical series does not take into account the temperatures that the reaction occur at.
d, The electrochemical series does not take into account the formation of any insoluble products which can interfere with the reactions predicted.

Something about how aluminium is pre oxidised. And then teacher had a diagram with aluminium on the inside and oxygen on the outside caused by the pre oxidising to prevent the redox reaction from occurring

Yeh I was thinking that too. Aluminium oxide (insoluble product) would form a layer over the aluminium so contact with water would be minimised and preventing reaction from continuing, while the series assumes that aluminium will be fully oxidised.

Nice, my teacher also just confirmed Edmund's answer, she said pretty much the same thing.
