Hey guys im planning to major in accounting/finance, and wondering which of these two I should choose? I've heard QM2 is more preferable for accounting students, but i was bad and disliked QM1 - thoughts? While I'm at, can anyone recommend any easy breadths/comm electives (level 2)?

Thanksss

Hi hang__10! I did QM2 last semester, after doing QM1 back in 2014. I had a very similar experience with QM1 as you - I definitely disliked it, and the lecturer was horrible in my opinion. However, QM2 was definitely a subject I enjoyed. The content was much easier to understand, and rather straightforward. I've had friends who did Econometrics and many of them told me that they found it rather difficult.

Furthermore, the structure of the course for QM2 was well laid out and taught - the division of the course made revision much easier for me. In terms of the amount of content that is related to QM1, I would say that you don't need to remember too much of QM1 to do well. In fact, I had forgotten most of the introductory subject by the time I started QM2, but found it to be no problem, as the lectures covered this material again. QM2 focuses mostly on hypothesis testing, which was briefly covered in QM1. If you found it confusing in QM1, it will be much clearer when it comes to this subject.

As for easy Level 2 breadths, I hear Glee Singing is quite easy! But it really depends on if you're looking for a useful subject or a subject that boosts your WAM!
