Hi,
Does someone have the mathsquest further textbook on their computer?
I would like to do revision from this textbook as well as using Essential.

I'd say stick to Essential. I'm not sure about further, but MathsQuest for methods and specialist was pretty useless. The questions are very basic =\ Essential is much better.

Actually, Maths Quest has more questions than Essentials.  I know that for some Essentials exercises, there were like 3-4 questions, not to mention that they were pretty useless.  Also, Essentials sometimes combines some things together and not go over it in a lot of detail.  For example, the ambiguous case for the sine rule (which I reckon is very important to note).  Quest, on the other hand, had a separate exercise with a detailed explanation.

I tutor many kids using different textbooks and by far and a mile, I have found Essential to be the absolute best.

I think I should point out that that my last post was only directed at Further and not Methods or Spesh just to eliminate any discrepancies.

Yes for Further aswell. Essentials is the best book going around as it gives you all the breadth/knowledge needed in the course (with enough questions to reinforce the topics in your mind). There's no need to do extra textbook or 'halo' questions. Once you've understood the material, head straight to exam qns.

Doing two sets of books; espec for math subjects, is a waste of valuable time.

Do you guys think that for FM maths the 'Haese and Harris publications' book is good? My school uses it, but I use essentials. Its just that the book is black, white and blue, i dont use it cos' its depressing.

I don't do questions from both sets of books; my school only uses Essentials but sometimes I use MathsQuest as a cross-reference, especially when Essentials' explanations are a bit confusing.

Not in Further it doesn't. Trust me, I've been through around 5 different Further books and, holistically, Essentials is outright best. It gives enough examples and explinations with regards to the breadth and depth needed.

maths quest isnt that great. we use it at our school and i find that a lot of the questions are worded in a real crap way, and my tutor thinks this also. he recommended that if i wanted to broaden my use of books to try essentials so id probably just stick to that.
oh and i agree, i HATE HATE HATE depressing textbooks especially ones where the paper isnt shiny. if the books boring you dont wanna use it.

I know mathsquest isn't so great for methods and spesh, but i find it more useful than essential for further. The explanations are way more easier to understand!
