UoM Chancellors MMI query

Hi there
I am a Yr 12 graduate and luckily i have the chance to accept the Chancellor's scholarship at the University of Melbourne however i am an interstate candidate and the application process for the scholarship is in such a way that i cannot apply/accept offers locally (as they come out later). I was wondering, as i have intentions of getting into the Doctor of Medicine through their graduate entry program, how many people pass the MMI that is required at the end of the 3rd year undergrad course i.e. do most people get into their graduate course? This is a scary decision for me and some help/advice would be much appreciated :) :)

Statistically, most Chancellor's Scholars pass the MMI at the end of third year, but this year there were a few who didn't. :/

2013 ATAR: 99.95

Why would Chancellor's leave it until the end of third year though?

Some didn't know about it. Some forgot to register. Others lacked confidence.

It's so stupid. Registration for the MMI opens a couple of weeks before results are released (i.e. they somewhat expect you to anticipate a 99.90+ result, which is for the most part crazy) and closes on the day you finally get your results (at midday). Many people only find out once they arrive at the university for the celebration event, by which they've already missed the deadline. I was fortunate enough to have stumbled across the website at 11am that morning and rather hastily registered in a rush just before leaving home, without understanding what the hell I was getting myself into. Not a good system at all, especially considering all the emotion and commotion occurring in that time.

UoM logic:
'Because you're all going to remember to sign up for an interview right when you're excited about your ATARs, right?'

I certainly didn't remember. And that might cost me if I choose to do med.

This is why your information post you did was so important! I think after this year they're stopping early MMI interviews anyway.

What would happen then? Isn't it still guaranteed?

I like how they think people know they're going to get 99.90+ ATARs. 😂

If you are talking about a guaranteed Graduate Pathways... Yes (but there is an interview process- Degree: Doctor for Medicine)

Look at the website: http://futurestudents.unimelb.edu.au/admissions/high_achievers_programs/chancellors-scholars-program/graduate_course_guarantees

"Applicants eligible for guaranteed entry will not be required to complete the Graduate Australian Medical School Admission Test (GAMSAT)."
