I'll probably take Frankston line if anyone is interested [though I am only like 3 stations from the city anyway].

Name and shame mod :P (although I could have a guess as to who this is based on which mods have attended previous meets haha, edit: yeah I definitely know who this is haha)

Lets just say a literary god with almost 3000 Facebook friends and that says lol all the time

Why go to AN meets, when you already know cool people in real life.

I'm still wondering how to explain where I'm going. Anyone got any tips?

Least to say, EZ was a revelation (his fam is quite a phenomenon too), there hasn't been anyone quite like him on AN since...

With less than 24 hours to go, undecided people (me being one of them) need some last-minute convincing :P. Perks of meeting studious, nerdy soon-to-be year 10, 11, 12s or recent grads? Pls tell me.

I have a theory (mostly from personal experience) that people who come of as slightly cold people on the internet are actually really lovely, funny and genuine in real life. While some people are way nicer than they  actually are, on the internet. (generally, not always)

Not sure what I can say to convince you haha, but personally I just think it's interesting to meet people. I've made a few really good friends from these meets and then there's a bunch of other people I see around Monash who I recognise and stop and chat to, it's good to just /know/ people.

The worst that could happen, and this hasn't really happened to anyone IIRC, is that you hate everyone there and leave after 5 minutes having lost some of your holiday time, not a huge loss really :P

I'm sorry that EZ won't be there, but I can assure you that he's only one of many nice and sociable people on AN :)

I literally decided to come like 20 minutes ago, it wasn't even in my mind for last couple of weeks. A chat with another AN member suddenly made me rethink it.

Not sure if this holds true for you, but I'm personally going just to practice socializing better/develop myself (not that I'm one of those mopey serial killer-esque types :P) in preparation of uni next year and as a general life skill (it's definitely not easy to befriend complete strangers for most people I wager).

And if I make a couple of friends along the way then even better! You never know when getting yourself out there and networking will be beneficial to both yourself and other people. You might even meet your potential soul mate... ok too far... :P

Good things happen to people who take opportunities :)

Hope to see you there !

Rumour has it that the legendarily silent administrator ok is considering showing his face after 4 years of being conspicuously absent at meet ups.

The fact is that, I was convinced because of this rumour  :P

I want to meet the legend  :P

haha thanks. Yeah, I have a strong tendency to stick with my friends and friends' mates, not really the type to go all out there (unless if at school, conferences or co-curricular stuff). My main fears were the pretentiousness of people ( I was surprised by how genuine and funny EZ was when I first met him in real life haha) and the fact that I'm in a sticky situation (not comfortable talking about it on this thread).

But yeah, I'll probably come (at least go the place itself, if I back out, I'll just take the escape route to the library or the shops I work at lol). If anyone is on the Belgrave/Lilydale line, hit me up!

Good things happen to people who take opportunities :)

So I was just reading through and this caught my eye on what a beautiful thought it was.
That's a really commendable thing to work towards :)
I think I'm going to make this a goal for myself as well - I'm always a little too cautious and hesitant. I'm going to try and keep this in mind throughout the year. Thank you for inspiring me.
I hope you guys have a lovely time at the AN meet up.
