Hi may seem like a dumb question but need help trying to find two examples of petitions, demonstrations and the use of the media. struggling to find recent ones and hoping some of you guys could help out. thanks in advance
It's too late for OP but for future reference, if you ever want to find petitions simply go to the Victorian government website here:
http://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/assembly/tabled-documents/search-tabled-documents-database/table/3?resetfilters=0 and it lists all the petitions that have been tabled in the Victorian parliament since 2012.
Demonstrations are regularly covered in the media, if you check popular news websites you should be able to find at least one person protesting something. hot button issues which generate a lot of protests can be university fees, asylum seeker/refugee policies and gender/sexuality issues (gay marriage etc.).
Use of the media is everywhere, whenever there is a political issue or debate you can see commentators broadcasting their view through the media, this is all using the media really is, just having your voice broadcast through popular channels of information. Good places to look can also be talk back radio where people call up and complain about things. Social media pages about issues are also a good example of very new types of media which are just starting to effect lawmaking and will become more important in the future, worth noting with social media issues which may not be as well known to be published in newspapers or on TV can be published to a wide audience as things can be self-published and automatically distributed.
