Hi! When I receive feedback for my essays that I've handed in at school, I'm always losing some marks for "specificity" and the quality of my thesis statements. How can I fix this to receive better marks?

Thanks!  :D

Post your essays here for em to be marked! 15 Posts per essay.

Definitely check out the module guides Jamon posted, found them amazing for my studies :D

Does anyone have like a full essay structure for Module B, I understand how to write an essay for the other modules but for this module the whole idea of textual integrity and other peoples perspectives is confusing me. SO does anyone have like a full essay structure they could recommend like what to write in the first paragraph and so on

Thank you

hey! i'm not sure if this goes here (i'm sorry if this is in the wrong place) but does anyone have any notes/information on the revelance/reception of Brooks' and Lessing's speeches? (Module B, obviously)

Hey Lachlan! I'd be checking out this Module B Essay Guide. Essentially, the order of your paragraphs in Module B won't overly matter, each will cover a theme. What matters is putting the right things in those paragraphs - Quotes, techniques and analysis, within the requirements of the module. For Module B, this is all about how well the composer achieves their goals, how well they craft a text to represent something to their audience. The guide I linked above go over all of this ;D

Definitely in the right spot!! I can't help here unfortunately - These are the two new speeches in the study design that I didn't do back in my HSC (which is probably why you are having trouble finding info) - Hopefully someone else can help! ;D

How would I structure a response to this question?
"Powerful texts explore significant ideas in interesting ways. Discuss the interesting ways ideas are explored in your prescribed text (TS Eliot's 4 poems)."
It's a 3min speech and don't know how to structure it to include the best points.

Hellooooo,
I was just wondering if anyone knows what techniques are used in these quotes from the book, 'Art of Travel'? Also, if you have any analysis regarding either quotes that would also be very helpful! Thankyou :)

“I had inadvertently brought myself with me to the island”

“My body and mind were to prove temperamental accomplices in the mission to appreciate my destination”

Hey Lachlan,

I'm doing T. S Eliot for Module B instead but I know I've been told to focus on multiple poems in my essay! So perhaps you could too? :)
The end may justify the means as long as there is something that justifies the end.

EDIT: the formatting is messing up, so please ignore the quote box at the bottom - it's all one reply!

hey! full disclaimer, I haven’t read the book, so these are just going off the quotes themselves. feel free to ignore:

the first seems to be juxtaposition/irony, as you cannot separate (usually) yourself from yourself. if it’s demonstrative of something bigger (in the plot/characterisation), then I might go metonymy or symbolism. at the very least, I could use another technique to say “in
Quote
, [technique] is used to further the characterisation of [character]. two techniques in the one sentence always looks impressive. as for the second, i’m not sure. emotive language, maybe.

again, I haven’t read the book, so take this with a grain of salt (a very big one). if these are wrong, i'm really, really sorry.

Yup! And idk if you've noticed but when I was looking at the different past paper questions-- they always ask to refer to more than one poem.. :)

I was wondering for a question like this 'how has the use of language features been effective in shaping your response to one of the texts?'

What would be the best way to write what your response is? Can a response be anything?
