Now that the trial are done.
how to do i get ready for the hsc?
How or what is the most effective way of memorising english essay ( 4 essays for paper 1 and 2) ???
how do i ace paper one short answer
how do i get a band 6 essay for paper two essays equestion????
please tell me how and give me advice on what i should be doing now until octocber hsc begins....???????
Well, what sort of study methods did you do for trials? Did they work?
In that case, keep doing the same things for the hsc (Don't fix something that's not broken). If not, then that's when you should revisit and rework your study.
Personally, i don't memorise whole essays. I only memorise quotes and concepts and rubric statements for the modules. I get a concept then using flashcards recite all my techniques for that concept and their accompanying analysis. I find that helps me.
My advice is to utilise those extra minutes of reading time to get your head around and understand each unseen text and their accompanying questions (Only have a quick glance at sections 2 and 3 and focus mainly on section 1) so that when you pick up a pen you can launch straight into them without worrying about reading them.
I can't personally give advice about writing band 6 essays given i cannot do them myself. But i recommend having a look at this Resources thread which has some useful articles that may have what you're looking for

Hope this helps!  ;D

could you still get a c if you write a creative that doesn't use the stimulus

Effective incorporation of the stimulus is worth roughly a third of your mark, so you probably could! But obviously you would be better off using it, even if just the best you can, so you can be given some credit in that area :)

what is the technique and effect for these quotes

“travelling often centres around the people we meet along the way”

“never really considered overseas adventures because… travelling centred around the visual experience”,

“she soon discovered the beauty of trekking around the world extends far beyond the eye”

Do you think it's too late to choose a new related if you have an exam tomorrow?
and also is it ok to do an article that no one would know as a related

Hi guys, just wondering... in the HSC, would the examiners mark you down for not using a well known related text for AOS Discovery. Don't know whether to change everything this far into the course or keep with the text our class got?

Thank you,
Kind Regards  :)

Hey, Mate2425!

I think if anything, you’ll be at an advantage for having a lesser known related text because the likelihood of you being compared to other students is very slim. As long as you choose strong and relevant quotes to discovery that link well with your prescribed text(s), the marker won’t mark you down for having an obscure one.

However, in saying that, I chose my related text based off the assumption that the teacher would at least know it exists, even if they haven’t read it yet or know much about it. You could always have a backup related text and give it a shot at analysing to see how it goes. We have plenty of time before the final exams so you should give it a whirl. I know people who are using games and other new media for their related texts and I’m about 90% sure most English teachers won’t know them. You can still get a band 6 response though if you strengthen your analysis under the AOS rubric.

Hope this helps and clarifies your decision more  ;D

Hey, Amelia!  :D

Sorry I couldn’t get to this earlier but I’ll answer your questions anyway. I think you should stick to the related until after the exam and change it if you really don’t feel like it’s right for HSC. As in my previous answer to the user above, I think unknown related texts have their strengths more than weaknesses so as long as you analyse it in depth, it will still be as effective as the infamous ‘Heart of Darkness.’ Techniques that could’ve been used for those quotes-

“travelling often centres around the people we meet along the way”- pronoun “we” invites the reader to share the traveling experience with the author and the importance of shared experiences of landscapes/discovery (this is me assuming that this is Mod C or AOS. Correct me if I’m wrong  :-[).

”never really considered overseas adventures because… travelling centred around the visual experience”- if you used this in tandem with the previous quote, you could use the motif of “centre” to underscore the root of traveling and its significance. If you wanted to isolate this quote on its own, the adjective “visual” pinpoints a key aspect of traveling and the significance of  sensory immersion  ;D

“she soon discovered the beauty of trekking around the world extends far beyond the eye”- the best I can think of right now is vast imagery generating from “the world” and “extends far beyond.” Maybe the symbolism of the eye as something that can view a great extent, but the necessity of travel with “trekking” can expand sight even further?  ???

Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with because I don’t know too well what text this is or what the module. Hopefully this suffices!  :D

would you get a non- attempt if you only wrote a paragraph for creative as you ran out of time but did the other 2 sections

do you think i still have time to write a Mod B and Mod c essay and memorise them both

also what is the effect of using an eloquent tone in the quote “boot stangi on your face forever”.

Whoa, umm, no, maybe? and I'm not sure.

Don't worry about creative. I only wrote a page and a half on my creative but any attempt is still an attempt so they can't give you a zero at least!!! You take what you get. The creative is really good since it's so flexible and since markers have a large range of creatives to mark, they can't put to much emphasis on length and structure, there are limits to this though so yeah don't worry about it.

Depends how you work. It's very much possible you can write out a Mod B and Mod C essay for your paper tomorrow? But it may be easier and more worth your time if you get your themes and quotes and write dot point essay plans for any and all questions you can find. This way you can find similarities between questions while putting you in the mindset of paper 2, and you can better memorise and practice your plans, quotes, themes, and arguments.

Not sure about the effect but the process I use when analysising quotes is look at first the impacts and them the connections:
Impacts:
1. What do we learn from? What does this example tell us about the character or idea you are focused on?
2. Effect on the Responder. How does the audience react to what we learn about the character here?
3. The Big Picture. What would happen if we all learned something from this situation?
Connections:
1. Connect your Analysis to the concept. What does the example tell us about the character or idea we are focused on?
2. Use info to address the question. How does all of this information fit the question you're responding to?
3. How is it valuable to consider this concept? What valuable lesson can this text us through your example?

Hope this helps!! I don't think you asked for it exactly

“the proles were natural inferiors who must be kept in subjection”

Hey! I'd say that quote works well there for sure ;D

As for techniques without explanations, not really, you need to start to link it to the idea they ask in the question to start getting marks ;D

would it be plagiarism if you use a topic sentence from a sample essay
