Hello...
Just need some help on finding some techniques in the below quotes and analysis for MOD A - RIchard III & Looking for Richard......... :D :D
If ya cud reply ASAP tht wud be great!!!

1. "does not have his humanity, that he’s lost it”
However, although Pacino agrees with Shakespeare when he says that Richard does not have his humanity, that he’s lost it”, the depiction of Richard is as if he is more psychologically flawed, rather than evil.
2. “I love the silence. After silence, what else is there?”
Following Richards death, Pacino’s focus on silence rather than the restoration of moral and spiritual order becomes a final reminder, according to critic Steve Henry, that “postmodern philosophy remains unsure as to our place in an impersonal universe”

Thanks so much!!!!

Hi...
1. Metaphor and anastrophe.
2. Anadiplosis and irony of the rhetorical question (that he loves the silence and then asks a rhetorical question, prompting silence).

It is always good to pair literary and film techniques together for a film, as it shows that you can compare how Richard is portrayed in different mediums.

Hi...

Would I be limited by having my creative piece in third person?

I have been reading all the sample creative writing pieces in the notes section and ALL of them (that I have read so far) are in first person. Thinking of changing my creative to first person so that it is a bit more emotive and personal...

Hey!
i've always found that writing in first person adds that extra degree of emotion and personality. I'd only recconmend trying first person if you think you're good enough to make it work. If creative isn't your strong suit, then i'd definitely say stick to first person as it i find it generally easier to do well.

If you feel like it, have a crack at third person and post it in the marking section. If it doesn't go so well, then you can always go back to first person!

Actually, my creative is written in third person at the moment, and I was just considering whether I should change it to first person. (Sorry for any confusion!)

I think it is probably worth it to try it in first person, as it definitely help to improve characterisation. Thanks!  :)

My personal tip for first person creatives is to really put yourselves in the shoes of the persona. As you write, imagine yourself doing and feeling the same things that you write about your character. Do they feel natural? Emotional? By placing yourself in their shoes while writing you allow the reader to do the same and really relate to the characters feelings and actions by also putting themselves in the characters shoes.

Good luck!  ;D

Hey there,
No need to change perspectives if you feel like you have to write in first person! There are advantages and disadvantages for each 'person' but if you think it's better to show characterisation or emphasise anything else with third person, then it's fine to do it in third person! As the writer, you get the option to write your creative however you want to as long as your choices can be justified.

Hope this helps!

^^ I agree massively with owidjaja. No tense is inherently better - And swapping last minute just to fit a norm isn't a good use of time imo ;D

Heyy, so I'm a mess and don't have a creative for advanced bc my trial one was complete doodoo (love me a 9/15 woo)
I'm thinking about doing poems instead of a story, because I'm actually decent at that - just want to double check I can do that

You absolutely can! It is harder to get the conceptual depth you need in a poem though (purely because they are shorter), so be aware of that! But if you can do poetry better than narrative then have at it ;D

Hello!
Im doing TS Eliot for Module B, and I was just wondering if it was ok to do 3 bodies, a different poem for each?
I know this isn't ideal, but its a backup plan in case they specify a poem which they are likely to do.
Thanks.

Does anyone know what a technique would be in this quote? (It's from Into the Wild)  I feel like there's something when you repeat the las phrase of a sentence as the beginning of the next, but I don't know what it's called (or even if it actually is a technique haha)
"When you forgive, you love. And when you love, God’s light shines on you."

Also interested to know the answer to zawzeyi's question, and whether it would also apply for speeches  :)

Maybe it's chiasmus? Hmm not sure either- pretty sure chiasmus is repeating the phrase but in reverse order.

I mean, it is a good quote but I would talk about the significance on Ron's religious values on Chris' personal values (i.e. the importance of forgiveness).

Don't think that quite works, but thanks anyway  :)
Yeah I am essentially talking about how Ron provokes Chris's discovery of the importance of forgiveness, although I hadn't really thought about talking about the influence of Ron's religious values. Are you using Into the Wild?

Nah, I'm not using Into the Wild- studied it in Year 11.

Hey guys,

For mod B, we're doing speeches.
Does anyone have an idea or any predictions of which they may choose to specify?
