Hi guys!!
I'm having a lot of trouble with Module B Speeches as my teacher taught it to us very briefly so I've had to pretty much teach myself! Can anyone give me any tips on writing a thesis statement for this module and what sort of aspects I should include?
Also, for Module C Representing People and Politics, can they specify a certain poem by W.H Auden or would I be fine in focusing on the ones I know best? Thanks so much
Hi...
For the speeches, you can often base your thesis specifically off the question, especially since a 'to what extent' question is common. E.g. for 2015 HSC Question:
Speeches have been described as ‘passionate and insightful responses to perceived injustices
in the modern world’.
To what extent does this perspective align with your understanding of the speeches set for study? You could simply write "Speeches can be passionate and insightful responses to modern concerns about justice", maybe add a little more depth if you like.
For questions which require a more specific thesis, I generally intertwine aspects about the Mod B rubric into my thesis, e.g. rhetoric (only for speeches, though), textual integrity, audience, purpose, context, values etc.
Hope this gives you some ideas.
