Mentoring Programs

I'll be in my first year this year studying the Bachelor of Science at Melbourne Uni and I was wondering which mentoring program would be better to take: the UMSU mentoring program or the Faculty of Science Peer Mentoring Program. Is there much of a difference between the two?

¿Por qué no los dos?

Seriously, just sign up for both. I was a mentor with UMSU and my experience therein was that there's a lot of variability between the mentors. Not sure about the BSc Peer mentoring, but it sounds great. Furthermore, always be on the look out for informal opportunities to be mentored. Plenty are willing to help

Hahahaha thank you for the advice, except now I'm slightly hungry at 2 in the morning :P
So how does the whole mentoring thing work exactly? Do you meet up every once in a while to talk or?

That's pretty much what it is. The UMSU mentoring programme, from memory, pairs a student with a mentor based on commonalities between those two people and then it's basically the mentor's job to get in touch and see them every couple of weeks or so. There are also a few events, like a speed-mentoring (like speed-dating) sort of thing and so on

Ah that sounds awesome. I'll definitely get onto it then. Thank you for all your help, Mr. T-Rav. I really appreciate it :)
