Hahahaha, I actually think some of these little excerpts from essays are pretty poor quality actually, especially the L.A. ones 

But I'll be posting something soon that should help decipher some of the vaguer parts of this!

(Hint... or not so much a hint as last year's version...)

My favourite part was when they called that a metaphor when it's actually a simile. 4/10 technique identification, VCAA - try harder.

Still, nothing can beat the quality of similes in some creative pieces:
"She floated gracefully across the water, just like a bowling ball wouldn't."

Yeah, but it's a RANKING system. So, all those 0s and 10s would turn into 0s and 40s. (soz for the 0s...)
