Last year i did whether or not afl helmets should be introduced. It went okay i got 25/25. Just a quick tip to all those who havent done the oral.
1)What i found useful is to place cue cards in one hand. And do gestures with both hands! It makes u look incredibly natural! Be careful not to send your cuecards flying

2) Most people would stand in the centre, try to look at everyone.. in the eye. Do not look at the top of their heads. Get their attention, after all you are speaking to them. Look at your teacher in their eye. You are trying to convince people to accept your argument, what you need to do is reach out to them, looking at them in the eye connects you to them.
3) Following from the 2nd point, when looking at people that are on the far left or right from the room, turn your bodies toward them. Instead of turning head only it makes u look awkward and conveys the subtle message that you are straining to see them, which could convey to your classmates a lack of conviction as you dont want to put effort into spreading your message. These are small things.
4) Your feet are not glued into concrete. Be natural boys and girls

When you speak to your friends dont you move around a little? Take a step forward when looking at those in the back. Take a step to the left if you are talking to those in the left.. ect.
5) Honestly.. nobody says it out of respect, but people look bad when they talk off their cue cards, it sounds monotonous. Instead of having a little essay for each point, have 2-3 keywords in your cuecards and talk about them naturally, you would have researched your topic so dont read of your cuecards like reading of a textbook for the first time. This might call for improvisation during your oral, however this will give you tons of expirience in your conversation skills. Plus it looks realllyy natural. If you say am or uh a couple of times its okay, we arent robots, it makes your oral more natural as you add natural elements from conversations.
Good luck peeps
