Help me choose my sixth subject

Here's my situation:
I am currently undertaking Biology and Methods 3/4, and Spesh, Chem, Eng Lang and Physics 1/2. My performance in these subjects have been pretty good, except for Physics. My teacher is a new teacher who is quite knowledgeable, but is terrible at teaching (granted, he tries his best). The textbook is so great either, which causes me to be completely clueless about the subject. I am thinking about dropping Physics to pick up another subject. Here are my options:
- Further
Pros: I'm decent at maths, so I think a 40+ is quite achievable
Cons: 2 maths in top 4 rule, have to wait until next year (don't want to do Further unit 2)
- Accounting
Pros: Seems interesting, can pick it up in semester 2
Cons: I think I would score higher in Further
- English
Pros: Backup English study score, incase EL goes wrong
Cons: Not my strongest subject

Do you have any idea what you want to do after year 12?

Either computer science, engineering or commerce

In that case, why not pick a commerce subject, I'd recommend accounting, or even economics. It will help you get a better idea of what to expect from a commerce degree, and might even lead to you coming up with a decision of which of the 3 you'd prefer. Particularly since right now you're not doing ANYTHING commerce-like.

You might be able to do better in further, but if you're looking at scoring past 40, you're going to have to work ridiculously hard for both of them anyway, and it might turn into a case of getting a 44 vs. a 46, which really isn't going to change too much at all.

Either computer science, engineering or commerce

Have you though about doing IT, accounting, or business?
2015: VCE

If computer science is the path you want to take, I would suggest Software Development or Algorithmics (if your school offers it, since its a HESS subject). These both will prepare you for computer science at university (to a certain point, anyway).

Informatics (formerly known as IT Apps) I would argue is more 'IT' rather than Computer Science (yes, there is a difference).

Even if you don't choose any of these and still want to pursue a computer science degree, this is still possible provided the course has no prerequisite of an IT-related subject in VCE. You will be taught the main concepts again anyway, so it isn't a major loss if you don't do it (more so a practice run if anything).

I'm actually interested in learning to program phone apps, web apps, that sort of thing. Is computer science a part of that? I've read the IT Apps study design and it doesn't seem to have that sort of thing (my school doesn't offer software development/algorithmics).

By the way, what are some good websites to get me started with programming? I've tried codeacademy but it doesn't really teach you the concepts, it's more like, do this and do this.

It's both IT and Computer Science (I would lean more towards IT for Web Apps, Computer Science for Mobile Apps). Anyway, you won't have the ability to actually make these apps at VCE level, however at uni level I would say definitely.

You could always look into distance ed if you want? For example, I know for a fact Distance Ed Victoria offers Algorithmics.

In terms of actual programming, I would do Software development if you want that in VCE. Although there isn't a lot of it, you'll get it there whereas Algorithmics is tailored specifically to algorithms, data structures etc (which is very fundamental for Computer Science and I almost guarantee you will examine it again at uni level).

I'm actually doing that for a 1st year subject; ENG1003: Engineering Mobile Applications.
