How do I begin?
I have a teacher who just teaches to the curriculum. He just puts power points with 'literary devices' in them and just gives us a rubric (he didn't even make) and goes 'well lmao have fun'. Our school has these awful assessments that I'm pretty sure is used to boost the scores overall in the English curriculum. He uses educational mumbo jumbo about creative thinking or some of that crap that he somehow facilitates critical thinking. Someone in my class who got the highest marks in my class in our latest debate discussion (which was free wifi):
- Free wifi causes depression because of multitasking
- Pizza because we'll use pizza to order
- Spent three minutes introducing himself
- Had no evidence to himself up
and he somehow uses rhetorical devices, appeal to logic and reasoning and has deep thinking processes?? I just got marked down on my autobiography because I shouldn't be using metaphors because it isn't on the curriculum. My class loves it because we don't do any work in class and they just talk all the damn time. I'm on academic probation in English because of the 50% mark in my autobiography because I didn't develop my story correctly because I used paragraphs. Someone who can't even use paragraphs got full marks in structure because it was his 'own creative writing voice'.
This "Gifted and Talented" program is just a big lie. I hate this so much. We have the most awful assessment marks which is based on his bias I'm pretty sure and not the substance of the presentation. I've tried complaining but I'm pretty sure I'm forced to put up with crap for the rest of the year.
