course in the uni, or do you just apply for the uni?
any help sorting out my confusion would be greatly appreciated
thankyou so much in advance
Hey mq123. It may be a little different here in Victoria, but I am going to assume that it's either similar in WA or that you're applying to Victorian universities.(Which one is it? We can be more specific that way.

) I'm almost sure that some people have written guides around here, so have a look around for them.
In Victoria, we can start applying via
VTAC's website (VTAC stands for Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre, apparently
TISC is your equivalent) in August of our Year 12 year. Basically, they start by asking some official details and then going on to other stuff, such as disadvantages to your education, leadership and/or community experience, scholarship applications and your preferences. (Also, note that there's a small fee involved.) In recent years, you can add 12 preferences (less if you want, most have 6-8, iirc) and have from about August/ September to December (minus end of October to November, which is closes so people will concentrate on exams) to change them however you want (order and courses). It has no specification as to how many unis and institutions you can apply for, just that you max out at 12. So you could go and apply for any combination at any tertiary institution. (Yes, that means if you want to apply for a special institution - TAFE, specialist college, etc.- you need to add those courses in too.) Thus, you apply by course rather than institution.
Make sure that you fulfil all pre-requisites for each course. If you don't, chances are nil for getting in. So if you want a course in Biomed and you find out on
Course Search (Find TISC's equivalent) that you need Chem, but don't study it, if you can't change it now, you can't do Biomed.
I think I covered all of your questions quite briefly. If you have any more questions, keep asking.
