Hey! I have an assessment question - ''Assess the political and military significance of the Second Triumvirate''. I'd love some help! Thanks heaps.

Hey,

That's a pretty normal question in the HSC so I'll answer it anyway.

1) Define what/who the second triumvirate was and how they came about (important for political significance)
A coalition between (Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus, (also known as Caesar Augustus) Mark Antony, and Marcus Aemilius Lepidus). They were a state sanctioned Triumvirate (unlike the first triumvirate) and controlled much of the Senate.
 
2) State what their aims were and what they achieved together.
Greater power for each other and control over the state. Octavian had an interest in regaining his great uncle's poisition and title (led to him becoming the emperor).

3) Outline the Political and Military actions that they took as a Triumvirate

4) What effect did their military and political actions have
They brought about the end of the Roman republic through (yet again) another civil war. It was after this civil war that Augustus proclaimed the Roman Empire and took the title of Caesar.

That's just a basic outline of what you need to include. Don't forget to develop a thesis and to include the relevant facts/figures/dates etc.

I need some help approaching Q's in regards to the 'role of the optimates and populares' esp when it comes to paragraph structure. Like do arrange them according to the factions, key individuals or like by time periods when each dominated?
