Hey guys,
I'm just stressing out about what I should do for year 12. I am currently doing chem, and I am definitely not coping. I am struggling, I am not enjoying it and also behind with chem 1/2. My first preference for uni does not require chem. However, if I ever change my mind about my uni course, I would generally need chemistry as a prerequisite. Here are my current subjects btw:
Bio 3/4
EAL 3/4
Chem 3/4
Methods 3/4
Further 3/4
(Have also done Eco 3/4 in Year 11)
I have been talking to my coordinators and trying to switch subjects, but I couldn't because all the classes that I want to replace chem with is full. Here are my only options.
1. Stay with chem in the same class.
2. Drop chem altogether and get more study periods for my other 4 subjects
What should I do? Please help because I desperately need it
Hi Lienantrika,
First of all, I agree with sweetcheeks. Chemistry does open a lot of doors in uni.
Secondly I guess this really depends on how you felt you went in your 3/4 eco last year and how you cope with VCE altogether.
I have a girl at my school who also did a 3/4 last year and excelled it in. This year she has chosen to drop a subject so that she gets more free periods. This could be beneficial to you as it mean you would have one less subject and you would have more time to focus on others subjects, however you would only have 5 subjects out of the 6 slots which is available for the ATAR.
On the other hand, if you feel like your 3/4 eco would be consider a 10% score then in my opinion, I would try to keep chemistry...in saying so, you have to keep in mind chem might be that 10% and you would have 5 subjects for the year. Which could lead you to focusing all of your time on chemistry cause you feel like you are falling behind which would potential lead to others subject not exceeding.
Ultimately it is up to you, but you should considering factoring in time, how you cope under pressure/can you handle the VCE pressure as well as life beyond high school.
Hope this helps!
