Further maths

I am currently doing further maths this year, and I think I stuffed up the first sac which was 'core' due to not reading the questions properly. the entire sac was out of 100 and I seriously think I got a C+ or B, which is nowhere near my usual standard as I was a straight A+ student in year 11 and get ok marks in methods. If I were to receive a C+ or B on this first further sac am I still able to achieve a 37+ study score for further? because I am freaking out that I stuffed up further already!!

Definitely not!

You'll recall from your study of averages that one outlier doesn't need to impact on the overall result!

Your SACs overall are worth like 33% of your study score last time I checked. So, doing well on the two exams is enough to give you a great score by itself. Your Core SAC is worth comparatively not much at all, so you've still got a fair bit of breathing room (particularly if the rest of your class didn't do that well in the SAC either.

Learn from your mistakes (and I mean that literally: stop making stupid mistakes in Further Maths) and you'll be fine.
✌️just do what makes you happy ✌️

thanks brenden, much appreciated. I'm fairly sure most of the year level stuffed it up, because stupid private schools make nearly everything rigged haha. So what you're saying is that if i were to receive a C+ on this core SAC and get straight A+'s on everything else now till the end of the year i can still achieve a 37+ study score?

Right! One SAC isn't going to affect it that much. The exams if anything count the most.

Honestly it isn't that big of a deal. It's one SAC. I'd only be a bit worried if it was recurring (e.g. you score that on every SAC). Let me give you a personal example of my experience with Further. I had an A average in SACs over both Unit 3 and Unit 4, and somehow managed to do terrible on both the exams and my A dropped to a C+ for SACs (due to moderation i'm assuming). Let's just say my study score wasn't great as a result.

I would assume this same principle applied in reverse. Do well on your exams, and you may see that desired study score after all!

How much over 100% are you aiming for? :)
