Unit 3

Hey guys,

I was considering to start studying ahead for unit 3 for my subjects (listed below in my signature) in my upcoming holidays (as I have already finished the content needed to be covered in unit 2 for most of my subjects), and I was just wanting to know if someone can tell me the things, I should for looking ahead for my maths and sciences (so the contents, needed to be covered next year). Currently, I only know about specialist's unit 3/4 content (thanks to my teacher, and reading over some preivous threads on AN), and some bits of methods, however, I have no clue about my sciences. I would really appreciate, if anyone can list some of stuff that is essential in the SD (or even the stuff that may take someone, long time to understand).

Thanks,

EDIT: Is there any possible way that I can find any UMEP maths resources?

Tbh mate, everything in the study design could be assessed by VCAA and would therefore be considered "important" - be suspicious of anyone who tells you that a point listed in the SD isn't "essential" + it's hard to give you a generic list of "study x, y and z because everyone struggles w it" because everyone is so different that what someone finds dead easy, someone else could find super hard, y'know?

If you wanted to get ahead with Chemistry, my suggestion would be to make yourself very comfortable with the following concepts:
- the mole concept, especially stoichiometry
- acid-base chemistry
- redox chemistry
These concepts are all introduced in Unit 2, and will be relied upon in Year 12.

But, although getting a head-start can be very beneficial, try not to over do it.

I'd also like to chime in here.

Getting a headstart is great but I found that going too far ahead makes the year significantly less enjoyable. I enjoy learning new topics for my subjects coz they're fascinating. Then practice exams were fun for an extent before they became extremely boring and tedious.
There's no rush to finish all the content really early and do practice exams in like term 1 holidays - but you can do that if you want it's worked for other people so....

Btw not sure what the new textbooks look like for your year (cause SD change) but if I was you I'd become familiar with the physics course if you plan on self teaching. Coz the textbooks are horrible and it'd be an inefficient use of your time to self teach during year 12, but right now with no stress you can enjoy it.

So whilst the content for physics is actually fairly simplistic, the textbook does not reciprocate its simplicity.
Fuck you english your eyebrows aren't even good

Hopefully the Physics textbooks are of higher quality for the next study design. Because they're absolute garbage at the moment  :(

Just trying to get a simple headstart, so I won't have to face any moments, where I get stuck on something  :)
